The system consists of a fully adjustable camera module which can be used as a handheld tool or
plugged into a telescopic boom for extended searches.
The camera itself is a high resolution CCD
device with built in LED illumination, protected by a tough rubber boot. Images are viewed on a 5.6”
TFT screen that can either be worn by the user or placed on the ground. A number of monitor case
/ telescopic pole options are available as well as different colour schemes for different applications.
The unit also has a video output facility. A miniature digital video recorder is available as an option.
APPLICATIONS |
Scubars primary purpose is to provide search and inspection facility in situations where health and safety issues are apparent or where accessibility is an issue. Examples include:
Marine |
In the marine industry, Scubar was originally used by marine engineers and surveyors when examining the condition of boats or checking for damage. Usually, such an operation required paying for divers or lifting the boat out of the water, both solutions costly and carried a degree of risk. Scubar allowed marine professionals to carry out inspections immediately and with no recurring cost. Recorded images could be taken for scrutiny and even presented to the customer.
Marine charter companies soon realized that they could inspect their boats after each charter and make charges for any damage found. Marina operators also saw the benefits of being able to inspect pontoons, piles and swinging moorings, and offer Scubar for rental to birth holders.
Fire Search and Rescue |
In the UK, Fire, Search and Rescue authorities use Scubar to aid sub-surface searches and for urban search and rescue (USAR) applications. Scubar has been specified as part of the New Dimensions Scheme
Police Authorities and Security services |
Scubar is used by a number of Police authorities for a range of operations, such as searching drains
and culverts, roofs and guttering, loft and roofing spaces for discarded weapons, narcotics and even
suspects. The flexible camera neck means it is also perfect for under vehicle inspections. Again, the
recording facility is invaluable.
Coastguards / Customs & Excise |
Allows checks for contraband hidden below the waterline or towed behind the boat. When used as a handscope Scubar is also used for looking into tanks and containers.
